Replicant – In Blade Runner, the brilliant 1982 sci-fi masterpiece directed by Ridley Scott, the replicants were robots, humanoid creations who became sentient and some rebelled. Many times I feel as though I am a robot and am simply following through with my programmatic instructions.
In times like that I create. This composition is precisely one of those pieces that came from a need to insert a break in a cyclical recursion loop of monotony.
dying light – A metaphor for memento mori, a reminder that we all die and so we should all live each day to the fullest. This is a 1hr dark ambient doom drone soundscape for sleep, meditation or relaxation. It’s soft undulations and transitions are a perfect background soundtrack for any activity requiring focus or purposeful non-focus.
Day to night, light to dark… Do you hear the ticking of the clock? We are not promised tomorrow. Tomorrow is a privilege, not a right. The dying of the light is a reminder that we are not promised another day, and if you are, it can be easily broken. Memento mori/memento vivere is the reminder that we all must die so too we all must live.
In no way is this meant to be depressing. It is a call to live life to the fullest. Waste no days, waste no minutes. Live hard, love hard. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Be true, be a good friend, lift up those who are down and be the hero in your own story.
A dark ambient track, ex machina is perfect background music for any relaxing journey you wish to take. Reading, cooking, or just simply sitting still.
Short for Deus ex Machina, a dramatic device meaning god in the machine. The last minute save, a tragic protagonist spared from doom by a miraculous event. In reality we are the gods of our own machine and those machines are miracles unto themselves. Gift yourself time to heal, rejuvenate, refresh, or simply be still and breathe. There is solace in the dark wash of sounds in ex machina. Replenish your calm and care for your machine.
fallout is a dark ambient journey through a dystopian soundscape. Stark, yet beautiful undertones wash the landscape in a juxtaposition of emptiness and nature’s rebirth. The topography of this journey is appropriate for sleep, meditation, focus, relaxation or escaping harsh sound environments. Best experienced through headphones, the higher quality the better.
Nox Reanimus was born from an internal calling to create music for focus, sleep, meditation, breathing and recreational escapism. All of these activities reanimate our souls and allow for the tiny rebirths we all need to thrive.
